CHILDREN at Tregoze Primary School will return from their half-term break with playground mascot Bart Simpson back in place.

The eight-feet tall cut-out of the cheeky cartoon character marked the site of a buddy bench where children are invited to sit when they are feeling unhappy.

But after being in place for just a month Bart was stolen by two teenagers who were caught on camera taking him from the playground late at night.

After an appeal in the Evening Advertiser Bart was found dumped in Lydiard Park and returned to the Grange Park school by police.

Senior teacher Julia Haile said: "We are going to put him back in place but we might use bigger screws so he can't be pulled off the walls and put a name on him so he's a bit more unique.

"The children are absolutely euphoric that he's been returned."
