VOLUNTEERS are needed to help Swindon's libraries take part in a national reading challenge.
The Reading Planet challenge will run across the country from July 20 to September 14 and is aimed at encouraging children to enjoy reading outside school hours. Youngsters are being urged to read at their local libraries during the summer holidays to get them in the habit.
To entice them into the challenge, they will be given rewards for each book they read.
Volunteers will play a vital role by enrolling the children in the challenge and then listening to the children talk about the books they have read.
If anyone is able to spare some time, they should contact Rachel Douglas at the council on Swindon 464202.
