GREEN-FINGERED man-ager Lynette Welch was at the Chelsea Flower Show to receive a coveted gold medal on behalf of Wyevale Garden Centres.

The prize was awarded for the company's Wye- vale Globe Garden.

Lynette, who is in charge of planting at the company's Hyde Road branch, said: "This award means a lot to all at Wyevale and it is the result of months of hard work.

"We believe that winning an award like this really demonstrates our horticultural knowledge and expertise in a way that all our customers can identify with."

The prize-winning garden featured two newly-introduced plants: a climbing clematis called Crystal Fountain and a galega called Coconut Ice.

Company horticultural consultant Roy Trehern said: "We are delighted to have won another gold and hope that our garden will enthuse gardeners and non gardeners alike."
