A wheelchair-bound pensioner had her handbag stolen as she left the Co-op in Old Town at 1pm yesterday.
The 74-year-old was heading out onto Newport Street in her electric wheelchair when her handbag was snatched by a man aged between 35 and 40.
The bag contained £15 as well as house keys and other personal items. She was on her own.
The Wiltshire police helicopter joined in a search for the offender but he remains at large. The thief is described as 5ft 8ins, slim build with a thin face, wearing a baseball cap and an orange jacket.
Anyone with information has been urged to contact PC Andy Alexander on Swindon 528111.
