It seems that our Government is considering giving Gibraltar to Spain.
I saw Gibraltar from a troop ship after being on board for weeks and expecting a torpedo to come through the side at any time. What a welcome sight the rock was. As we hadn't seen anything except Spanish fishing boats who we were told would let the German U-boats know where we were.
Our Government has given our fishing rights away and seems to be toying with the idea of letting Argentina have the Falklands. Our troops are liable to have their lives shortened at least by disease in Afghanistan if they are not killed or wounded.
I remember during World War Two I was stationed in the army in Notting Hill Gate during the VI and VII bombings and large numbers of Gibraltarians used to sleep on the Underground platforms. They didn't deserve that then and I don't think they deserve to be taken over by the Spanish, which they don't want now. So please support them in their time of need and fill in the forms you see in the newspapers.
