It's easy for Sue Bates to say "we'll pull the plug on Swindon Town Football club" (EA, May 30).
We sent people to prison for non payment of the poll tax. If any of us owed a small part of what the football club owes we would be in court or worse.
Why do we need a football club? During home matches there are more police on duty than spectators these police officers would be better employed making our streets safe to walk in.
If you want to watch football we still have a few local grounds left, where players play for pleasure and the standard is often higher than our overpaid professionals (red card collectors).
Ask the electorate if we want a football club.
