RAPPER and human beat box Skorpio the Nemesis visited Lyneham Junior School last week with an inspirational assault against the bad in everyday life.

His 6ft 5ins frame and lyrical style created a powerful impression on the school assembly.

His entertaining lyrics dealt a lasting impact, covering a range of issues from racism to the environment and his brother Syd's unfortunate accident on a motor bicycle.

He worked with Year 6 pupils on a poetry workshop, using games to teach concentration and rhythm, before giving poetry exercises to expand the children's descriptive writing and vocabulary.

Skorpio explained the origin of the word RAP, Rhythm and Poetry, emphasising that all songs are poetry with music. "You must be descriptive, imaginative, use expression and emotion with rhythm," he told the children.

"He's great and to have a different face in class has inspired the children, giving them new ideas and great expression," said deputy head Louisa Munton. I think the year 6 children have probably had their best day at school so far this year."
