Longleaze School, Wootton Bassett, went red, white and blue for the golden jubilee.

Flags and bunting adorned classrooms and hall, and pupils and staff wore patriotic dress for a street party at long tables laden with teatime treats.

Teacher Lucy Naish, who masterminded the party, said: "I have had a few sleepless nights, but it's all come together well, and the kids have really enjoyed it.

"The support from parents has been amazing, with so many coming in to help and donating food."

In the decorated school hall, children enjoyed a disco, prior to a magic show presented by Smartie Pants.

Every child wore a crown, made at the school craft session which preceded the party and there was a prize for the best in each class. The winners were Harry Jones, Abby Callan, Kerry Turner, Lauren Bishop, Jordan McKenzie, Kevin Emsley, Becky Sly, Ben Burchell, Charlotte Whittenbury and Charlotte Humphries.

Clare Brookes won the prize for the best crown made by a teacher.

"It's all been marvellous," said head teacher Anne Glenton, whose own crown was judged runner-up.

"The afternoon ended with the children singing the National Anthem."
