ENGLAND fan Dave Andrew of Devizes who is in Japan for the World Cup has been featured on TV with a flag bearing the name of Devizes.
He was in the crowd for the England v Sweden match on Sunday with a Union Jack flag bearing the name 'Devizes PFC.' Mr Andrew, managing director of Anderlecht electrical contractors in Devizes, had the flag made for him by System Signs in Wootton Bassett. The PFC stands for Portsmouth Football Club as Mr Andrew is a lifelong Pompey supporter.
Mr Andrew, 38, said: "I have lived in Devizes for most of my life and I wanted to let people know Devizes was on the map. I have heard that a lot of friends saw me on the telly. My mum had a call from a friend of mine who moved to America some years ago to say he had seen a flag with the name Devizes on it and he was sure he had seen me."
Mr Andrew and his flag will be at the game against Argentina tomorrow and against Nigeria next Wednesday.
