AN appeal by Bromham farmer Lance Beale against an enforcement notice is to be heard in July.

Kennet District Council served the notice on Mr Beale after an investigation into allegations that there was an unauthorised change of use of the land at New Road, Bromham. According to the allegations, land previously used for mushroom farming was being used for storing dozens of vehicles.

The allegations of unauthorised use of the land dated back to last year.

After Kennet served the enforcement notice on Mr Beale, he applied for planning permission to change the use of the land from agricultural to the storage of caravans, boats and vehicles.

But Kennet refused the planning application, saying it would be detrimental to people living in adjoining houses, that it would spoil the open countryside and that access to the site and the approach road was unsuitable.

Mr Beale has appealed against the planning refusal and a hearing in front of a Government inspector will be held.

A date has not been fixed but those with an interest in the planning application can submit their views.
