POLICE investigating a road accident at Amesbury in which a young soldier died believe they have traced every witness, thanks to the media.
Traffic officers asked the Journal, its sister paper the Andover Advertiser and local radio stations to appeal for witnesses to the accident, which happened on Workhouse Hill on the night of May 4, or for people who saw the young man walking along the A345 prior to the collision.
About 40 witnesses have now come forward, enabling the police to prepare their report for the coroner.
Pte Timothy Harcourt (23), who had been in Wiltshire on a training exercise, came from Derbyshire and was serving with the 7th Parachute regiment.
He died at the scene after a car, driven by a 27-year-old woman, collided with him.
