REVELLERS from across the area donned red, white and blue for four days of jubilee parties.
Hundreds of townspeople and villagers flocked to events ranging from parades to barbecues and street parties.
But there was little patriotic spirit among thieves who stole bunting on the eve of the celebrations in Devizes. Town council staff and councillors were devastated to find bunting around the Market Cross had been stolen along with bunting in the Little Brittox when they arrived early on Monday in preparation for setting up for the day long event in the Market Place.
Town councillor Noel Woolrych said: "I am sad there is a number of stupid mindless individuals who want to wreck other people's pleasure. The people who stole the bunting are those who can't be bothered to contribute anything to Devizes.
"We have been organising the golden jubilee celebrations since last August. The event was put on for free and yet there are some mindless idiots who want to wreck it for other people."
