I believe it's is high time this Government stepped in to stop paper merchants from around Britain trashing the most bio-divisible rainforests.
The logging of the Tesso Nilo rainforest by Paper One Products should be halted immediately. Already an area twice the size of greater London has been felled and now the company is targeting the unique lowland rainforest habitat which is home to tigers, elephants, gibbons and tapirs.
Paper One Products is being backed by British companies, which include Amec and Baring Brothers, with their destructive operations.
The Indonesian government is doing its best but needs our support, otherwise all these wild animals will become extinct.
Friends Of The Earth has shown that UK companies are linked to some of the world's worst cases of forest destruction and are are profiting from the environmental devastation.
The Government must step in now and bring these companies to account..
We should be thinking of future generations and stopping the plunder and devastation. Otherwise all that will be left will be barren desert.
