Bill Calthrop talks to Les Durrant, chairman of Old Town-based DPDS Consulting Group, about his BMW 528i

How long have you owned it?

For about two years. I suppose I should get a new one, but it is very good.

What made you choose it?

I've been driving BMWs for about 15 years. They are excellent driver's cars and have a perfect blend of comfort and perfor- mance.

Does it have a name?

Just Beamer.

n What do you like best about the car?

As I've said, it is very much a driver's car. This means that I always enjoy getting into it, for short or long drives. Oh yes, it has a great sound system as well!

n What does the car tell us about you?

A quietly understated high profile vehicle!

n What do you like listening to when driving?

Depends really on the road conditions and my mood. But basically it's everything from Mozart to Meatloaf.

When you clean the car out what sort of things are you likely to find?

Various bits and pieces and almost certainly some of my wife's used tissues.

Any accidents in your car?

None, touch wood.

What about parking tickets?

No, don't do them!

What do other drivers do that annoys you the most?

You don't have enough room to print it all. But I suppose people who drive with rear fog lights on when not required and outside lane cruisers.

How often do you wash your car?

Every week if the rain doesn't do it for me, which, fortunately, is most of the time!

May others smoke in your car?

No, it's a smoke-free zone, including for me!

Dream car?

An M5 for everyday use but Mr Brown rules that out so I suppose life begins at F40 Ferrari style.

What famous person would you like to give a ride to?

Sven Goran Eriksson as it would give me the opportunity to tell him where he is going wrong and maybe get a few phone numbers too!
