PEOPLE in Bradford on Avon are being asked how £30,000 can be spent to improve road safety in Trowbridge Road.

Wiltshire County Council has come up with a series of road improvement schemes, but only has a total of £30,000 to spend.

Safety improvements were demanded after two people were killed in Trowbridge Road.

In 1999 pensioner Leslie Carter was killed while crossing the road on his way home after buying a loaf of bread.

Motorist Mark Delahunty, 41, was killed in October in an accident as he made his way to work at County Hall in Trowbridge.

Every home in the area will be asked which schemes they would like to see go ahead.

Town councillors will draw up a list of the preferred options by the end of the month, after the consultation has taken place.

Proposed schemes include:

A pedestrian crossing near the Beehive pub £7,800.

A second crossing and footpath link near Moulton Drive £7,800.

Clearing shrubbery from the narrow footpath opposite Moulton Drive £500.

Improving Southville Road junction and putting in a new crossing point £8,500.

Improving Poulton Lane junction £3,000.

Improving the Poulton mini-roundabout £10,000.

Extending the builtout area near St Laurence Road £3,000.

Building a new safer crossing point there £3,500.
