A TEENAGER arrested after a woman was badly injured when she fell from his car bonnet while 'surfing' in a supermarket car park will not face any criminal charges.
Gloucestershire police said today that the 19-year-old man from Minety, who has not been named, has been told he will face no further action.
The file of evidence in the case was considered by the Crown Prosecution Service, which decided no charges should be brought against the man, said Cotswold Police spokesman Steve Partridge.
The man reported to Cirencester police station to answer his police bail yesterday and learned that he is in the clear.
Two women were 'surfing' on his car bonnet in the car park of Tesco in Cirencester in the early hours of April 23 when they fell off.
Ruth Hainsworth, 22, from Fairford, Gloucestershire, suffered serious head injuries in the fall and after admission to Cheltenham General Hospital she was transferred to Frenchay Hospital, near Bristol, where she was in a critical condition for several days.
However, she made a good recovery and was discharged from hospital in time to celebrate her 22nd birthday.
The other girl, aged 18 and from Cricklade, suffered a broken wrist in the fall from the bonnet and was treated at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Friends have said Ruth and her friend were larking around 'surfing' on the car after a night out when the accident happened.
