HAIRDRESSER Andrea Holmes knew exactly what to do after scooping £2.5m on the National Lottery.

She immediately quit her job and booked a luxury cruise for her and her parents.

The 25-year-old from Devizes was one of four winners of the Lotto Golden Jubilee bonus draw on Saturday.

Andrea, who was born and brought up in Devizes, said she was still struggling to comprehend her massive win.

"I never thought I would win the Lottery. If anyone was going to win I thought it would be my brother, John, as he is lucky and wins things," she said.

"It's a lot to take in but I am going to enjoy my time off."

Andrea, who lives with her parents in Devizes, quit her job at Michael D Hairdressing in Snuff Street, Devizes.

She said she was not in a rush to spend her winnings and, after going on the cruise, would be looking to buy a new house and car.

She does not know yet if she will return to hairdressing but has not ruled it out.

And for someone who has not had a serious boyfriend for two years, she says she is not worried about the prospect of would-be suitors. "I will probably make them pay for dinner!" she said.

Andrea did not know she had won until her mother, Sandra, came running upstairs to her bedroom.

She checked her daughter's numbers three times to make sure they were correct.

Sandra, 52, said: "My stomach turned when I realised Andrea had six numbers. I ran upstairs shouting that she had won."

Andrea's winning numbers were on a Lucky Dip ticket she bought from the One-Stop shop in Eastleigh Road, Devizes.

She has been playing the National Lottery since it began, shortly after her 16th birthday.

Her only other win has been £80 from two separate lines on the same day.

Andrea is hoping her win will be a good omen for the England football team.

She said: "I'm so excited it's a dream come true. I just hope that the England football team have as much luck in the World Cup as I have had with Lotto."
