YOUNGSTERS are being urged to join a second expedition to Swindon's Nicaraguan twin, Ocotal, for the adventure of a lifetime.

During the first expedition two years ago, 12 young people from Swindon travelled to the Central American town to start a kindergarten and adventure playground project for local children.

This time, the Swindon Youth Service expedition will have a multi-national dimension because the youth service has linked up with colleagues from Swindon's other twin town Salzgitter, Germany. Also joining them on the adventure will be a group of young people from Guatemala.

Alan Bailey, of Swindon Youth Service, says the expedition will be part-funded by grant aid from the European Community.

He added: "It is an opportunity for six young people from Swindon to join with six youths from Salzgitter and, after a planning weekend in September, travel to Ocotal in November and December to continue the community work started two years ago.

"The project is to develop the kindergarten and adventure playground with and for local young people."

Anyone between 16 and 20 who wishes to sign up should contact Alan Bailey on Swindon 466569 or Swindon 466480 for details.
