COMMUTERS using Salisbury's busy A30 London Road face four months of disruption from Monday, when work begins on the city's new £10m Denvale trade park.

Contractors will be altering the existing Bishopdown Farm roundabout to enlarge it and provide a fourth arm giving access to the ribbon of open fields between London Road and the railway line, which will become the new trade, business and leisure park.

First off the ground will be a Cannons' health and fitness centre, offering a 20m indoor heated pool, a gymnasium, an aerobic studio and health and beauty sections.

At the same time, construction work will start on the Leapfrog day nursery, a modern two-storey building accommodating up to 102 children and with an outdoor play area.

Once these two buildings are completed, the remainder of the site will be developed, transforming it from green fields into a home for high-tech business.

About 200 jobs will be created in the 13 purpose-built showrooms and sales units and it is expected that the trade park will be completed in nine months or so.

Work is due to start on Monday it is expected to be 16 weeks before the new roundabout and access road are fully open.
