WESTBURY travelled to Brislington in a vital game they had to win in order for them to climb away from the relegation places.

Westbury made four changes from the team that defeated Frome at home last week.

Adam Pothecary, Peter Gizzie, Garrick Hopkins and Ian Pothecary came in for the injured or unavailable Keith Wright, Ian Pinchen and James Dark.

Brislington won the toss and decided to bat first. Westbury made an initial breakthrough when Brett Thomas dismissed Phillips with the total on 23.

Then there was a good partnership of 49 between Paul Hamblin and Iles.

At this time the Westbury bowlers were struggling with their line and they were punished with utmost ease.

Brislington were well on top, with two superb partnerships between Munden and Gregson, who added 98, and Munden and Mark Hamblin, who added another 72. These partnerships took the total from 93 for three to 274 for five from their 50 overs.

Westbury were immediately under pressure in their reply when two wickets fell for 14, but there was a good partnership of 78 between Andy Elliott and Kane Scott.

There were two good innings by Andy Elliott, who scored his third 50 in a row, and by Brett Thomas who while he was at the wicket gave Westbury a good chance of getting close to the target.

When he was dismissed the Westbury innings subsided from 105 for four to 192 all out. Mark Hamblin had the outstanding bowling figures of 14-4-49-6.

Westbury were outclassed by a good Brislington side but there were some good points to be gained for the future, with Kane Scott justifying his place in the first team at last.
