TWO lucky workers from Virgin Mobile in Trowbridge jetted off to New York on Wednesday to attend the launch party of Virgin Mobile across the Atlantic.

Rachel Reynolds, 18, and Tina Thacker, 25, were randomly selected to join in the fun in New York and are staying at the plush Hudson Hotel in the city, all paid for by Virgin Mobile.

The ever expanding company is opening a call centre in New York with over 1,000 employees and plans to do 'exchanges' between their current workers at Trowbridge and Sydney.

Miss Reynolds, from Trowbridge, has never been abroad on her own before. She said: "I only found out on Tuesday afternoon. I'm in total shock and it hasn't sunk in yet."

The pair left by taxi for Heathrow Airport to board a Virgin Airways flight. Winner, Miss Thacker, who has worked at the company for two and a half years, said: "I just can't believe it, we're so lucky."

Lucy Morris and Matthew Chalk, both from Trowbridge, were winners in the male and female category of the karaoke competition at the Virgin Mobile summer party, and will each fly out for a three-day break to Barcelona with a friend. Group winners James Morrison, David Wilson and Simon Chisling, all from Trowbridge, won Virgin Call Centre vouchers worth £100.
