IF your car tyres are worn out, you could win a set of new ones.

Goodyear is offering a new set of tyres to anyone who can prove they have the oldest working set of Goodyears in the UK.

The offer follows the remarkable tale of Welsh farmer Allan Davies, who had a pair of Goodyears fitted to his tractor in 1968 which are still in regular use.

Mr Davies, 75, of Simpson Cross, Haverfordwest, has had a few sets of front tyres fitted to his trusty Ford 3000, but the rear drive tyres have never let him down in 34 years of baling, mowing and hay-making.

Goodyear's communications manager Ron Pike said: "We get dozens of letters from customers telling us about how much service they are getting from their Goodyear tyres.

"But 34 years of regular service must be a record for any farm tyre. That's why we'd like readers to tell us if they can beat that.

"If anyone can prove their tyres in regular use on any kind of vehicle are older than Mr Davies' we'd like to know.

"The customer with the oldest working Goodyear tyres in the UK will get a brand new set for their vehicle." Any takers for the title can contact Goodyear on 01902 327001.
