IN our society today we are seeing greed and selfishness the like of which has never been seen before.

The most recent example is that of the PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor taking an award of £130,000 per annum giving him a final salary in excess of £600,000.

This action is brazen cheek. But such acts are now common among the leaders of industry and commerce, where directors frequently award themselves bonuses amounting to billions. These greedy souls have no regard for the example they set or the harm they cause.

Public sector chief executives are also joining this band of money grabbers, eager to see their salaries top the £100,000 mark, even though the organisations they preside over are often inefficiently run.

MPs also have no compunction in pushing up their salaries and expenses, regardless of the thoughts or wishes of the electorate.

These leaders in our society always call for wage restraint from the lower paid workers, preferring instead to provide means tested benefits rather than reasonable wages and pensions.

Tony Blair and his government abandoned their socialist principles long ago and joined the greed and money culture by throwing millions at every problem that arises, they have been unable or unwilling to make a difference to attitudes.
