MISS B M Packer surely has the most vivid estimation of speed, if she really thinks that a car travelling along Devizes Road and turning left into Newport Street can turn that corner at about 60mph (EA July 29).
If that speed was achieved on that corner and the driver managed to keep the car out of the Install Kitchen and Swindon Aerials shop windows, then I can only assume that the person driving was a Formula 1 racing or rally driver.
If he/she's not either then maybe they ought to join a British racing team and win a few Grand Prixs or rallys for Britain.
I expect the speed was more like 6mph because to travel on Swindon's roads at 60mph you would need a miracle to happen especially on roads in Old Town.
