EVENING Advertiser Bride of the Year, Katrina Bennett, is bracing herself for her big day on Saturday.

The 25-year-old will be getting married to fianc David McCarron, 27, at the Goddard Arms Hotel in Old Town.

It has been a busy few months for Katrina and David, who have been choosing dresses, suits, cakes and colours for the wedding.

As tradition dictates, both the bride and the groom have celebrated their upcoming marriages with hen and stag nights.

Katrina and her friends went to Brighton two weeks ago and David went to Amsterdam courtesy of the organisational skills of Mick Furey, his best man.

Katrina said: "Some of us went shopping, some of us went to the beach and the pier.

"We had an early dinner, and then a few drinks and then we ended up at a nightclub.

"Then on the Sunday morning we all had breakfast and headed home in the afternoon."

Katrina said she and David were feeling well-organised but that this could be the calm before the storm.

She said: "We are fairly well prepared I think.

"I am not nervous yet, but I think it will really hit me when we finalise things.

"David hasn't done his speech yet but both he and Mike seem quite laid-back about writing them."

She is not concerned about Mick's speech though.

"I don't think he has got that much ammunition," she said.

To complement her dress from Rosella Gowns, Katrina has thought about the overall look for the day with some help from our sponsors.

On Saturday morning, she will be getting ready under the guidance of Sharron Whiteley of Pewsey, who will be doing both her make-up, hair and a full facial.

Sharron owns the Corner Salon in Upavon, but still finds the time to help brides prepare for the big day.

She has met with Katrina and they have got their plan sorted out for the wedding.

"We discussed what we were going to be doing with her hair and whether or not we were going to be putting it up or down," she said.

"We tried some of the different styles with the hair.

"Katrina doesn't want too much make-up, instead she wants to keep a very natural look.

"She is a very pleasant girl and I am sure it will suit her."

For stressed-out brides she also offers Indian head massage and relaxing facials.

Sharron has been providing a full wedding service to brides for many years.

"A lot of brides find it very useful to have someone there all morning.

"I will arrive about 9am, and I shall be helping all morning.

"I leave the house just before the bride."
