THE fundraising campaign for four-year-old cancer sufferer Charlie Jarvis has gone into cyberspace.

Charlie, from Greenmeadow, needs £60,000 to pay for revolutionary treatment in Texas for neuroblastoma, a rare form of the disease.

More than £40,000 has already poured in, mostly thanks to the efforts of Evening Advertiser readers.

And now the appeal has gone online in the form of the Charlie Jarvis Cancer Fund website.

Charlie's parents, Paul and Samantha, write in their introduction to the site: "Charlie is a very special little girl, the happiest, caring and thoughtful child you are likely to meet.

"Through a year of pain and suffering, Charlie has been able to remain smiling throughout.

"She still remains bubbly and happy, no matter what situation she finds herself in.

"There have been times in Charlie's treatment when doctors and surgeons alike have written them off, but this plucky little girl keeps proving them wrong."

The website contains information about her programme of treatment at the Bruzinski Clinic in Houston, as well as information about making donations.

Meanwhile, fundraising events in aid of Charlie continue to be held in and around Swindon.

Last night Charlie herself went with her parents to the Wheatsheaf pub in Upper Stratton to meet some of the many local people who are helping to raise money there.

Regulars held an auction, raffle and even a sponsored chest wax, and hoped to raise £2,000.

Also yesterday, 10-year-old Natasha Clark won a mountain bike, and her cousin George a T-shirt, radio and cap, after taking part in a fundraising competition in aid of Charlie at Asda Wal-Mart.

And staff and their children at Target Express Parcels in Wootton Bassett erected a bouncy castle at their warehouse for a 24-hour sponsored bounce last Friday.

Between them, the 40 fundraisers gathered £2,500.

In Swindon town centre, local traders in Havelock Street and Morley Street were today beginning a weekend of fundraising activities, including games, fancy dress and special stalls.

Donations can be paid into the Charlie Jarvis Cancer Fund account at Barclay's Bank in Old Town.

The sort code is 20-84-58 and the account number 60741663.
