THE preparations are now over, and the big day has arrived for the Evening Advertiser Bride of the Year 2002.

When Katrina Bennett wakes up tomorrow she will be married.

Katrina Bennett, 25, and David McCarron, 27,were finally tying the knot today after months of preparation, in the competition's first civic ceremony.

Today, the Goddard Arms Hotel was awash with the sound of popping champagne corks to toast their future together as Mr and Mrs.

Katrina and David have been on top of the world since finding out they had been chosen over dozens of other applicants. They have won more than £6,500 worth of prizes to make their special day run like clockwork.

Being the Bride of the Year has meant a lot to Katrina. She said: "It has been quite hectic for everybody getting everything organised there is a lot of hard work arranging a wedding. But the sponsors have given us a lot of support and help."

Katrina will feel like a princess in her beautiful gown from Rosella Gowns in Cirencester.

Earlier today, she was pampered by Sharron Whiteley of Pewsey, who did her hair and make up.

Her outfit was topped off by a tiara made by Copperbox in Peatmoor.

Katrina then made her way to the Goddard Arms Hotel in Old Town in cars provided by Dangerfields.

David and his best man Mick Furey looked dashing in their morning suits from Mr Charles.

The couple have planned their wedding photos in advance with Steve Little of Insight Photography and Video Services at Rodbourne, who is preserving the proceedings in pictures and video.

Setting the scene were blooms and a bridal bouquet provided by George Lesley of Swindon. And the couple exchanged rings from Deacons in Old Town, sealing their commitment to each other.

A cake from Sugar Celebrations of Faringdon Road took pride of place at the Goddard Arms reception.

Finishing touches for the reception were provided by Party Box Balloon Decorating Service of Wootton Bassett, which dressed the venue, and La Zahra of Swindon, which provided chocolate table favours.
