A PROMISING young Devizes motocross rider's career is in jeopardy after his new motorbike was stolen.

Christopher Holloran, 17, is still paying off a £2,000 loan on the Honda CR125 bike, valued at £3,895, which he bought in January.

Thieves broke into the lock-up at Shepherds Shore Farm, on the A361 between Bishops Cannings and Beckhampton, between September 1 and the early hours of the next day.

As well as his Honda motorcycle, a Yamaha YZ125 bike valued at £1,250 was also taken, plus £7,000 of tools, fishing tackle and power tools.

Christopher, an apprentice with a Devizes engineering firm, had just finished saving up the £1,800 deposit on the bike, a replacement for one he had stolen in a similar raid on a lock-up at the Bridge Inn, Horton, almost two years ago.

His father, Andy Holloran, said: "We are not insured and Christopher is going to be left paying off the loan on a bike he hasn't got for the next 16 months."

In the break-in at the lock-up Jeff Marlow also lost power tools, and Roy Mylie had £2,000 of fishing equipment taken.

The Hollorans are offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of the thief. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01380) 722141.
