EYEWITNESSES helped lift a car off a motorcyclist after an accident in Warminster.

The 22-year-old cyclist was airlifted to hospital after his Yamaha bike collided with a taxi last Thursday evening.

The man suffered a dislocated hip and severe bruising.

The taxi had just dropped off a passenger and was turning in the road when the motorbike hit it.

PC Jon Hargreaves, of Westbury police, said: "He was unconscious after the accident but came round before he was airlifted to the RUH in Bath.

"Five or six passers-by helped lift the taxi off him, so credit must go to them."
