BOOTS the tabby cat has already seen enough adventure to last a lifetime, yet he is only six weeks old. Two schoolchildren found him in a small shoebox with holes in the top for air and a towel for warmth inside.
He was at a bus stop on the High Street in Purton and taken to a nearby veterinary surgery.
Vicky Gower, practice manager at the Purton Veterinary Group, said: "He is only six weeks old and seems to have a bout of cat flu, but he appears to be in good health. When he first got here he was hissing at all of us, but he seems to have got used to his surroundings."
Taking on the big job of looking after Boots is Claudine White, 30, from Purton, who has worked at the surgery for eights months.
She said: "We had to name him Boots after the name of company on the shoe box, so it would be like Puss in Boots. He is still a little shy but has taken to us very well and he likes being handled very much and absolutely loves his food.
"I am a sucker for tabby cats. Boots will make an excellent companion to another stray I am looking after, called Dyson, because he found in vacuum cleaner box."
