I was at a meeting on Saturday afternoon at the Steam Museum, convened by the local MPs for an exchange of views, and to give an opportunity for Joe Public to find out information from them, about the probable forthcoming military action against Sadam Hussein.

Alas, there was more heat engendered than light shed on the situation.

As a largely non political animal I was pleased at the direct way the questions were answered, when they were allowed to be. In the middle of the heckling and shouting, they were often not given a chance to get themselves heard. I was dismayed at the antics of some self appointees, who attempted to hijack the meeting for themselves. I am glad they were politely and firmly put in their place. It came to a pretty pass when pensioners had to preface their comments with "please do not shout me down", especially when they were agreeing with the majority of those who were there. I was able to stay until almost the end when some intelligent and thoughtful points were made. Although my views were not represented by the MPs, I was glad at being given the chance of being there.

Thank you Michael Wills and Julia Drown. Let us hope and pray for a peaceful outcome to this very serious situation.
