LONDON is calling Eric Sabin, and the Frenchman is poised to sign on the dotted line for play-off hopefuls Queens Park Rangers.

While most of his Town colleagues spent the day nursing hangovers from the PFA Awards dinner, the 28-year-old took part in a behind-closed-doors game for the Loftus Road outfit.

A Tottenham Hotspur side boasting Jamie Redknapp provided the opposition and Sabin netted QPR's second goal in a 2-2 draw.

He was expected back at Loftus Road today to take part in a training session and was due to have another chat with Ian Holloway.

Rangers had tried to prise Sabin away from the County Ground before the March transfer deadline but were frustrated in their efforts.

However, with Town manager Andy King now admitting that he is looking to bring in two new strikers to the club, Sabin looks almost certain to move on.

He said: "It felt good to score, especially against a team like Tottenham. I am very happy that Ian Holloway likes my abilities and I enjoyed the game.

"Nothing is definite and for the moment I am a Swindon Town player.

"This is a very important decision for me and it has to be the right decision.

"I have to consider things from a football point of view as well as respecting the feelings of my family.

"Perhaps it is true that I am not a priority at Swindon."

And with QPR well placed for a return to the First Division via the play-offs, Sabin is drawn to what many, including the player himself, see as a big club.

He said: "If you speak to people from other countries you will find that most of them have heard of Queens Park Rangers.

"The manager seems to like my style and before the game with Spurs he told me to run at defenders.

"He liked the way I had played against QPR earlier in the season and had been following my progress.

"But it is still too early to say what will happen. Maybe there is a chance I could still stay at Swindon, but then the best thing for my career could be to move on.

"This might prove to be a good opportunity for me.

QPR boss Holloway said: "He's a player that we have been interested in for some time and I wanted to take a look at him."

Last week, King said he thought it 'unlikely' that Sabin would be part of his squad next season.

He has scored just nine goals in two seasons for Town.
