IT was third time unlucky for Box Rovers as All Cannings A lifted the Chippenham & District League's PPL Presto Print-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup in an incident-packed final.

Cannings won 4-2 on penalties as Box, runners up in 1995 and 1999, lost a match marred by a sending-off and a suspected broken leg that delayed the match for 40 minutes.

They were indebted to 17-year-old keeper Danny Appleton who kept them in the game with a number of great saves as Box failed to take advantage of the sending-off for Cannings' James Ashford-Brown for two yellow cards and the loss of Nigel Hiscocks with a suspected fracture to his left leg.

After a goalless 120 minutes, Robbie White and James Lye saw their spot-kicks saved by Appleton, Charlie Collier, Jack Williams, Stewart Beavan and Darren Walters on target for Cannings.

PREMIER DIVISION

Westbury Rangers A captured their third consecutive Tuesday night victory, a 5-0 win over Hullavington Village leapfrogging them into fifth place in the Vanitec Computers-sponsored Premier Division.

Marc Lanfear took his season's total to 24 with his fifth hat-trick while Sam Tucker added the other two.

Box Rovers warmed up for their Knockout Cup Final by beating Dog & Fox Ashley 5-3 to keep their hopes of the runners-up spot alive.

James Lye (3), Tom Smith and Jamie Rowe shared the goals as Ashley replied with strikes by Steve Roddy (2) and Ricky Trott.

Dog & Fox suffered another defeat at the weekend, going down 7-4 to a Malmesbury Victoria side whose win takes them within a point of second-placed All Cannings A.

Dog and Fox trailed 3-1 at the interval and were blitzed in the second period as goals from Wayne Kibble (3), Anthony Vizard (2), David Pope, Alan Webb saw the Vics home.

Steve Henley bought the curtain down on his footballing career with the Dog's first goal, Dan Cottrell, veteran Matt Cottrell and Steve Latham adding the others.

Pack Horse are still deep in relegation trouble following their 4-1 defeat at home to champions Percy's.

Frank Rogers, Dave Kilmurray, Simon Dent and Martin Blackman goals made it 11 wins on the bounce for the Corsham-based team as Dean Fisher bagged Pack Horse's consolation.

DIVISION ONE

The midweek battle of the strugglers saw Trowbridge Harriers hit six without reply past Atworth United. Paul Edwards (2), Ben Tilling (2), James Dowd and Darren Lawes shared the half dozen.

Harriers followed that up with a 7-3 defeat to Maud Heath Sports.

Paul Edwards (2) and a Phil Reed penalty were never going to be enough as Daylan Gleed, Dean Slade, Ady Simpkins (2) and Simon Hillier's hat-trick lifted Sports to victory.

DIVISION TWO

North Bradley suffered their heaviest defeat for many seasons, losing 11-1 to champions Semington Rovers amid chaotic scenes.

Bradley were left with only seven players after Stuart Powell and Marc Burrell both walked off and the dismissal of Leigh Trainer plus an injury to Ben Gardner reduced them further.

Bradley trailed to an early double from Kelvin Lockwood but pulled a goal back through Daniel Foster before things took a turn for the worse,

Powell walked off after he was shown a yellow card and when Semington were awarded a penalty Bradley's keeper Trainer was giving his marching orders for using foul and abusive language.

Stuart Barber converted the resulting spot kick and the floodgates opened after Burrell walked off disillusioned with proceedings.

Lockwood added another three to take his tally to five, Dave Castle, Dan Phillips, Stuart Donohoe, Ricky King and a second from Barber completing Bradley's worst day.

Fifty-year-old Ted Miluk stole the limelight from his younger Wingfield teammates again, performing heroics between the sticks to help the villagers to a 3-1 win over Pig & Whistle United.

Miluk was only beaten by a Nigel Hall free-kick that took a wicked deflection after Andy Edwards, Simon Hodges and Alan House had put Wingfield 3-0 up.

DIVISION THREE

Champions Holt thrashed Cooper Avon 7-0 in front of 170 spectators.

Holt could even afford the luxury of giving 49 year old super sub and club secretary Andrew Bradford a run out for the final half-hour as Tom Pang's hat-trick, Nick Corbett, Dave Greenwood, Mark Slade and Neil Grant completed the tally.

AFC Unicorn visited Rowde in midweek and managed a 4-0 victory with Lee Scutter bagging three, Kevin Woolford adding the other.

Three goals in the space of 12 second half minutes settled the game between the Hare & Hounds and Corsham Park Rangers in favour of Hounds, who triumphed 2-1.

Steve Bowell gave Hounds the lead and Gary Boyce made it 2-0 before Rangers' Ross Harley replied.

DIVISION FOUR

WG Parr Trophy runners up Four Seasons drew 0-0 Westbury Rangers A, whose point crowned them champions ahead of Trowbridge Town Supporters Club, who themselves played out a goalless draw with Bradstone Rovers.

That was after Four Seasons' 4-1 Thursday night victory over KSM had left them with a chance of denying Town second spot, Adam Smith (3) and Kelvin Page netting with Jason Cole replying for KSM.

Wooden spoonists Plough suffered a 6-3 defeat at All Cannings B who cruised home with goals from Darren Gray and James Webb (two each), Bobby Wadcock and Tim Chilton adding the others.

Jason Harford, Pete Collier and Geoff Remington scored the Plough's goals.

Richard Bright's 50-yard wonder goal was the highlight of Parsons Noses' 5-2 victory over Old Road Tavern, as Wayne Bailey, Gavin Bailey and a double from Andy Sayers completed the scoring.

Rob Dark (pen) and Pete Smith's goals were no consolation for the losers.
