CRIME in Cricklade accounted for less than four per cent of all the incidents that took place in Wiltshire last year.
Violent crime, including domestic violence, accounted for less than one per cent of the county's crime.
Domestic burglaries accounted for less than one per cent of the county's crime. The town has a detection rate of 28 per cent one of the highest in the county.
Insp Craig Hill said: "The sector station must be one of the safest town's in the whole of the county, purely by statistics.
"Any suggestion it is a no-go area at any time of the day or night is purely fanciful."
