LADY LANE in Blunsdon is to be closed to cars and become a country route for walkers and cyclists.
The closure applies to a 75- metre stretch from Tadpole Lane in the north to Thamesdown Drive in the south.
It is hoped the route will become as popular as the former railway line in Old Town, which runs along the top of the Front Garden.
Councillor Doreen Dart (Blunsdon, Con) gave her support to the plan and brought messages of support from ward councillors Justin Tomlinson and Peter Stoddart.
She said: "It has always been a lane, not a road, and now it is beautiful because it has been allowed to grow."
The track will act as a route to one of the planned primary schools in the northern sector and will link homes in St Andrew's Ridge and Groundwell.
