Mark CresswellINFORMATION technology worker Mark Cresswell was sentenced to four months in prison after admitting having more than 200 indecent images of children on his computer.

The crown court heard yester-day how the 39-year-old, of York Road, Swindon was found to have indecent images.

Prosecuting, Mr Meeke said Cresswell pleaded guilty to 12 specimen counts for a number of images he had on his computer, which were available for distribu-tion.

"Police who searched Cresswell's home seized computer equipment and a number of CDs. They found a total of 225 improper images of children."

Defending, Rob Ross said: "It is quite clear police investigations are going to throw up a huge amount of people who have this kind of material on their com-puter.

"We're beginning to realise it isn't a small thing."

He described his client as a realistic, intelligent computer buff who had become depressed and desensitised to porn.

The judge put Cresswell on a two-year extended licence, told him to register as a sex offender for seven years.

He also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of his computer equipment.
