THE proud parents of Hullavington-bred jazz sensation Jamie Cullum held a 'Parky party' when their son appeared on the famous chat show last Saturday - but were too excited to open the champagne.

The jazz musician was last week awarded a £1m contract with record giant Universal, one of the biggest deals in British jazz history.

The pianist lived in Hullavington for 17 years with his parents and his older brother Ben, who helps him write songs. Jamie's mum Yvonne, who now lives in Bath with her husband John, said: "John and I were shaking with fear and excitement. We tried to open a bottle of champagne and have a Parky party, but we couldn't open the bottle, we were so excited."

Jamie, 23, whose family moved to Hullavington from Essex when he was one, attended Grittleton House School and Sheldon School in Chippenham.

His mum Yvonne, who sings with her husband for the The Silver Ring Choir in Bath, said Jamie showed signs of talent as a youngster.

"We thought he had something special but did not think it would take off like this," she said.
