BOX Parish Council is seeking National Lottery funding to help raise money for the controversial multi-sports pavilion.
Brian Nicholas resigned from the council a year ago because he felt the running costs would end up falling on the parish.
But the council is still seeking to develop the £150,000 pavilion that will be used by the village football club, cricket club and bowls club.
Parish council chairman Derek Lovell said a lottery application was being formalised. "If the lottery agree with the grant in principle it will supply us with an adviser," he said.
The council voted unanimously last month to apply for lottery funding through Sports England in the parish council's name.
Mr Lovell said the facilities were badly needed in the parish for all the sports clubs.
The new pavilion will also include a bar that will be available after sports events and will be self-financing.
