CROSSES made from the nails and wood of Little Somerford Church's ancient roof are being sold to raise money for the roof's replacement.
Blacksmith Hector Cole, of Great Somerford, who constructed Prince Charles's gate at Highgrove, made the seven-inch crosses at his forge in Little Somerford.
Mr Cole has made more than £100 from the sale of two crosses so far and hopes to raise a substantial sum towards the £184,000 church roof appeal.
The blacksmith spends an hour making a cross using the oak wood and nails from the ancient roof, which dates from between the 15th and 16th centuries.
Mr Cole is producing a limited edition of 25 crosses and each will come with a certificate of authenticity.
