A NUMBER of golfers from the area will be hoping for continued success in this year's Lombard Trophy when they compete in the South West Regional Final on Wednesday, May 7.
Saunton Golf Club is the setting for the first of 16 regional finals where pairs from across the South West of the country will be aiming to land a place in the national final.
Among those competing are Mark White and Arthur Caunter of Hamptworth who take on Thornbury's Simon Hubbard and David Weeks.
Rushmore pair Sean McDonagh and Raymond Francis meet Ferndown's Iain Parker and Lawrie Ball while Richard Blake and Chris Child of Upavon take on Richard Hill and G Britton of Queens Park. Erlestoke Sands' Michael Walters and David Clegg face Nicolas Cook and Jer-emy Scoble of China Fleet.
The Lombard Trophy, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, is Europe's biggest pro-am contest, attracting 100,000 amateurs from 1,200 clubs each year.
