THERE has been considerable interest in cricketers wishing to play for the Wiltshire 50+ team this year.
A total of 19 players have put themselves forward of which 14 are available to play in the trial matches to be played shortly
Peter Hagelthorn, captain of the side, said: "This is a very encouraging development which will ensure the side can play effectively in this year's competition."
He added that he hoped this will encourage more to come forward as players are eligible to play immediately on their 50th birthday even in the middle of the season.
The trial matches and teams are: v Surrey (at Swindon on May 8): Colin Webb, Ron Smith, Keith Redding, Tim Nicholls, John Millington, Keith Steer, David Howden, Peter Storr, Colin Cook Andy Stevens. v Wales (at Trow-bridge on May 15): Peter Hagelthorn, John Gale, David Edwards, Geoffrey Edwards, Gwyn Blenkinsop, John Mitchell, James Ridge, David King, Colin Cook, Peter Mathias. Both matches start at 2pm.
