VILLAGERS in Ogbourne St George will attempt to row across the Channel, run a marathon and cycle a time trial in the Tour de France, on gym equipment in the car park of the Old Crown pub on Sunday.
The static triathlon will raise money for church funds, and landlord Mike Shaw is hoping 100 people will turn up to take part in this challenging fundraiser.
He said: "This came about from three regulars, who call themselves the Ogbourne Fundraisers, who raised some money for charity from selling T-shirts last year. They couldn't find a local cause to give it to, so they thought about investing it in another fundraising event."
Participants will become members of one of four teams that have to row 35.2 kilometres, the distance across the English Channel, run a marathon of 40 kilometres, and cycle 50 kilometres, the distance of a Tour de France time trial.
The event begins at 11.30am and it is expected to go on into the early evening. Cream teas and an evening barbecue are on offer, free to participants, and the bar will be open all day.
