YOUTH FOOTBALL: SECOND and third place Devizes Town Youth and Trowbridge Town Youth shared the points in a 2-2 draw in the under 16s Red Division of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.

After a goal-less first Devizes struck early in the second half.

Trowbridge quickly equalised through Lee Mounty before Mark Hunt gave them the lead.

Trowbridge held on to the 2-1 lead until the last two minutes when Devizes levelled.

In a mid-table clash Melksham Park took all three points with a home win over Amesbury Juniors. Paul Walker scored a first half goal for Melksham with James Worsely doubling their lead midway through the second period.

James Taylor finished off the scoring by taking the ball past three defenders before lashing it into the back of the net. The game was played in an excellent spirit.

Under 16s Blue Division

AMESBURY Juniors earned their first three points of the season with a 4-2 away win over Chippenham Town Rangers.

Under 15s Blue Division

SOME teams may find it difficult to complete their fixtures in this division following a fairly wet winter combined with county cup and league cup rounds which knocked out many league games.

Almost all teams are playing mid-week fixtures in an attempt to finish their games.

Westinghouse Youth entertained Castle Combe Colts on Wednesday evening, with Mark Dolman giving the home side the lead before Marcus Neal equalised from the penalty spot.

Midway through the second half Charlie Harris regained the lead for Westinghouse. The game was very close but Westinghouse hung on to their narrow lead until the final whistle.

Thursday evening saw leaders Trowbridge Town Youth host Croft Juniors, with Trowbridge taking all three points with a 6-2 final score. Matty Cooper (3), Jamie Young, Matty Bonser and Luke Scott scored for Trowbridge.

Chippenham Town Rangers remain second following their home game against Laverstock and Ford. With a very strong wind behind them in the first half, Rangers took a 3-0 lead at the break.

Rangers lost their concentration totally in the first five minutes of the second half and the visitors brought the game level with three quick strikes.

Rangers regained control and took a 5-3 lead before Laverstock replied two minutes from the end to leave the final score at 5-4.

Trowbridge Wanderers saw a spirited first half performance from bottom of the table Croft Juniors who kept the score line to 2-0 to the home side with goals from man-of-the-match Ashley Benison and Adam Shackell.

The second half was a more one sided affair, despite Croft scoring twice, with the home side scoring further goals through Benison, Shackle, Marc Sutherland, Matthew Cooch and a hat-trick in the last ten minutes from Daniel Thorne to run out 9-2 winners.

Under 15s Red Division

THE six top teams still have it all to play for with any one of them capable of taking the title.

Westbury moved up two places to fourth following their games against Devizes on Tuesday and Amesbury Sunday.

Thomas Brunning opened the scoring for Westbury at home to Devizes with a looping shot from 30 yards. Kai Pinnell made it 2-0 before Devizes replied with a goal from Alex Bishop.

The second half saw Westbury put Devizes under pressure from the kick-off. Good team work from Ashley Moore and Leon Bater resulted in Bater scoring the third for Westbury to finish 3-1 winners.

Westbury faced fellow contenders and leaders Amesbury on Sunday with both sides looking to enhance their championship hopes.

Westbury took a 1-0 lead at the interval with a goal from Leon Bater but the game ended all square with Amesbury equalising in the second half.

Marlborough Town increased their championship hopes by taking all three points from their game at Pewsey Vale with a single goal just before the break from the penalty spot.

Second place Melksham Park entertained third placed Shaw Youth in an intense and well fought game.

Gary Clemence gave Park a 1-0 lead at the break. Midway through the second half Shaw brought the game level and with no further goals the game finished all square at 1-1.

This very entertaining match was marred in the last few minutes Shaun Fornham, on his debut for Park, was taken off to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

Under 14s Red Division

WARMINSTER Hornets finished their season on a high by running out winners against Castle Combe Colts.

The game produced a very even first half with both sides creating chances resulting in a 2-1 lead for the Hornets. The second half was more one way with the Hornets controlling the play, netting four more to finish 6-1 winners. Scott Smith, Pete Holman (2), Tim Arnold, Alastair Young and Sam Markley scored for the Hornets.

Under 13s Blue Division

WITH just a handful of games left, the race is on for the championship.

Title hopefuls Shaw and Whitley made their mark in a very tight game away to Calne, turning a 2-1 half time lead into a 3-1 final score. Pete Tye and Ian Jeffers (2) scored for Shaw, with Ross Cryton replying for Calne.

The local derby between FC Chippenham and visitors Chippenham Town Youth produced a very tense game, with Chippenham Town taking the honours with a single goal in the second half when Craig Fisher scored from a free kick which went over the wall and over the keeper's head.

The win leaves Chippenham Town at the top of the table with Shaw and Whitley six points behind but with two games in hand.

Under 12s Blue Division

CHAMPIONS Trowbridge Wanderers won their last league game of the season by beating to Chippenham Town Youth 3-0 at home.

The game was very close throughout, with James Vine making it 1-0 to Wanderers in the first half. Vine doubled his tally in the second half and Stuart Greener added the third.

Trowbridge Town Youth enhanced their hopes of finishing runners up with a narrow 3-2 victory against FC Chippenham. Chippenham took the lead through an own goal, but Trowbridge were level at the break. Trowbridge raced into a 3-1 lead in the second half, with Chippenham coming back strongly at the end scoring through Craig Berry. Trowbridge need to win their last two games to realise their hopes.

Under 12s Red Division

THE first 20 minutes of the game between home side AFC Corsham and Melksham Park saw Corsham create many chances but fail to make them count.

Melksham then went on the offensive and were 4-0 ahead at the interval. The second half was more even, with both sides scoring leaving the final score at 7-2 to Melksham. Danny Humphries (3), Emilio Menghini (3) and Ollie Ballinger scored for Melksham, with James Wright and Toby Symington replying for Corsham.

Under 11s Division One

IN a well contested game, a tired Trowbridge Town Youth returned from their Easter tour to host Corsham.

In a scrappy first half, Trowbridge scored the only goal of the match when a Tom Mackinder cross was turned goal-ward by Jamie Jordan. The keeper could only parry the ball away and Jake Hiscocks netted for the home side.

Under 11s Division Two

DEVIZES Town Youth ran out 5-1 winners in their home game against White Horse Juniors.

Kieren Chivers put Devizes ahead in the last few minutes of the first half. The second half commenced with a second for Chivers before Jack Hopper and Jake Waters extended the lead to 4-0.

White Horse never gave up and were back in the game at 4-1 before Declan Elliott put the game out of their reach with a fifth goal for Devizes.

Under 11s Division Three

AFC CORSHAM notched up their third win of the season with a 3-1 home success against Melksham Park.

The first 20 minutes of the game between home side Westbury Youth and Bradford on Avon belonged entirely to Westbury who played some of their finest football of the season.

Several good passing moves resulted in attempts on goal. Richard Johnson was particularly unlucky with a narrowly dipping volley that was just over the bar and a header that was marginally wide.

Bradford took the lead early in the second half through Nowell Kelley. Westbury remained on the back foot for a while then took control over the last quarter of the game. Charlie Luckham picked up the ball on the edge of the area and he had enough time and space to drive a shot into the top corner to level the game. Westbury remained in control for the remained of the game but had to settle for a point with a 1-1 final score.
