A PIONEERING community resource centre was today celebrating after opening its second drop-in facility.
The Shop in Cavendish Square a one-stop resource, advice and drop-in centre for the people of Parks and Walcot has become the focal point of the community since it opened in 1998.
Run on the basic fundraising principle of the jumble sale, success at The Shop has snowballed and it now employs 15 volunteers and has a committee of 10, offering residents on the estate internet, photocopying and word processing facilities and a drop-in centre where they can meet local councillors and street wardens.
And the money made from the sale of jumble and bric-a-brac is redistributed back into the community.
The new shop, in Cavendish Square, will be used to house IT and computer equipment while the original shop will continue to sell second hand clothing.
