Asda Wal-Mart in the Orbital Shopping Park recently launched Baywatch Patrol a scheme to stop able-bodied drivers parking in bays intended for people with disabilities.
Armed with a pair of binoculars and a platform ladder, the Baywatch car park custodians have been monitoring who parks in their reserved spaces since March. Up to two employees patrol the car park at any one time.
Besides offering 40 disabled parking bays, the hypermarket also has 24 parent and toddler bays.
The supermarkets line up like this: Asda in West Swindon 39 disabled bays, 46 parent and child bays.
Tesco Extra, Ocotal Way 32 disabled bays, 24 parent and child.
Sainsbury's in Bridgemead 18 disabled bays, 18 parent and toddler.
