FORMER pupils of Southbroom Secondary Modern School in Devizes, now Devizes School, are appealing to former classmates to attend a reunion.

A number of pupils from the 1963/4 year are planning the reunion and have traced about 40 former pals but would like to contact more.

Margaret Stanley (nee Brooks) is one of the organisers of the reunion on June 6 at 7.30pm at the Conservative Club in Long Street, Devizes.

Mrs Stanley said: "We have had contact with 40 former pupils and there is someone coming from Cornwall and one from London. There is also a former pupil who now lives in Canada who hopes to attend, but there are obviously more people we haven't spoken to yet."

Mrs Stanley said it would be nice to catch up with former pupils on the 40th anniversary of leaving school.

She said: "We want the reunion to provide the opportunity for people to chat about their schooldays and what they are doing now.

"I loved my schooldays and some of us have stayed friends with a small number of people while others seem to have disappeared. We would like people who are coming to the reunion to bring old photographs of themselves."

Tickets for the reunion cost £6 and there will be a buffet. There will also be a raffle for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
