MANY people are so frightened when they see their doctor that their blood pressure shoots up giving distorted high readings.
The Marlborough medical practice in George Lane has just acquired a third portable blood pressure monitor which gets around the "white coat syndrome" as the nerves induced by doctors is sometimes known.
The Lodge of Loyalty in Marlborough has given the surgery £2,000 to buy a third ambulatory blood pressure monitor. To show that the device, which is worn for 24 hours, is not uncomfortable, Dr Richard Hook, one of the Marlborough GPs, tried it on at the presentation.
Freemasons Graham Parsons and Geoff Snelgrove presented the cash to Dr Hook and practice nurse Pam Glee at the surgery last Wednesday.
