MARLBOROUGH police have warned they are going to clamp down on motorists who park on double yellow lines causing disruption and danger .

The move comes after officers received numerous complaints from residents and town councillors about illegal parking in the town.

Sgt Martyn Sweett, of Marlborough police, said: "The main problem seems to be in Oxford Street where there is a danger emergency vehicles would not be able to get through. But the problem is prevalent throughout the town.

"We want everyone to know that we are going to enforce parking restrictions and come down hard on anyone contravening the law."
