SCOTT Richards, assistant at The Kendleshire, won the better-ball at the first Titleist-Footjoy Assistants League at Exeter, helped by his amateur partner James Bath.
The 11-handicapper, who received eight shots, came in on eight holes. Richards shot a six-over-par 75 but between them they returned six-under 63.
This was one better than Paul Harris (Newport). Garreth Pledger (Yeovil) and newcomer Nicholas Pope (Isle of Wedmore) shared third spot on 65.
The main event went to Welshmen winner Matthew Prior (St Mary's) on one-over-par 70, Paul Collins (Marriott St Pierre) and Matthew Hearne (Milford Haven) on 71 with David Jeffs (Hele Park) the leading West player on 73 in fourth.
