POPULAR Mendip steward Eric Cashmore has retired at the age of 65 after 11 years behind the bar.
The 13-handicapper was a publican before he took over in 1992. He has now moved to Bideford to be closer to his daughter and his family. He became a country member of Royal North Devon 18 months ago and has now taken full membership.
He will be playing with a new set of clubs as that was his parting gift from the club, together with a picture and cheque from a collection from members.
He has been succeeded by Ray Pointer who was No.2 at Bristol and Clifton.
